Clinical significance of geriatric conditions in acute hospitalization

Intrinsic capacity and 10-year mortality: Findings from a cohort of older people

Muscle Evaluation and Hospital-Associated Disability in Acute Hospitalized Older Adults

The Impact of Intrinsic Capacity on Adverse Outcomes in Older Hospitalized Patients: A One-Year Follow-Up Study

Summary: This study focused on the impact of Intrinsic Capacity (IC) domains on adverse health outcomes including new activities of daily living (ADL) dependency, new instrumental activities of daily living (IADL) dependency, and mortality among older hospitalized Chinese adults over a 1-year follow-up period. Results showed that higher IC composite score at admission was associated with decreased risks of ADL dependency, IADL dependency, and mortality after one year. Additionally, lower Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) scores at admission predicted new ADL and IADL dependency among older hospitalized patients.
