A Simplified Hindmarsh-Rose Model Based on Power-Flow Analysis

Sebastian Jenderny et al.

Summary: The Hindmarsh-Rose model is a neuron model that can exhibit various neuronal dynamics. We propose a simplified equivalent circuit that can still generate spiking and bursting dynamics, by studying the power flows of the nonlinear circuit elements. The circuit's behavior is well controllable, as revealed by bifurcation analysis. Rating: 8/10.

Influence of sodium inward current on the dynamical behaviour of modified Morris-Lecar model

H. O. Fatoyinbo et al.

Summary: This paper presents a modified Morris-Lecar model with the incorporation of sodium inward current. The dynamical behavior of the model is studied in response to key parameters, showing various excitability properties as parameters vary. A detailed numerical bifurcation analysis is conducted, yielding new bifurcation structures not found in previous studies of the original Morris-Lecar model. The results provide insights into the interpretation of electrical activity in excitable cells and serve as a platform for further research.

Analog/Digital Multiplierless Implementations for Nullcline-Characteristics-Based Piecewise Linear Hindmarsh-Rose Neuron Model

Jianming Cai et al.

Summary: This paper presents a fitting scheme for implementing a multiplierless Hindmarsh-Rose neuron model. By approximating the critical nonlinearity characteristics of the local nullclines using as few line segments as possible, a diverse firing pattern of the original model is successfully reproduced.

Summary: This paper introduces a novel smooth nonlinear fitting scheme to implement the HR neuron model in analog without using multipliers. By constructing nonlinear fitting functions and implementing analog multiplierless circuits, the nonlinear fitting effects of the adapted HR neuron model are successfully demonstrated.

An equivalent electrical circuit for the Hindmarsh-Rose model

Karlheinz Ochs et al.

Summary: Hardware realizations of neural networks have the potential to pave the way for a new generation of processors, as the biological role model is superior to today's processors in terms of speed and energy-efficiency. By replicating and investigating real biological neural networks, novel design principles for circuits can be derived, supporting systematic circuit simplification.
