Injectable immunomodulation-based porous chitosan microspheres/HPCH hydrogel composites as a controlled drug delivery system for osteochondral regeneration

Xiongfa Ji et al.

Summary: The inappropriate regeneration of fibrous cartilage and subchondral bone can lead to the failure of cartilage repair. A macrophage-modulated and injectable drug delivery system was developed to promote cartilage and subchondral bone regeneration. This system effectively created a microenvironment that facilitated the regeneration process.

Polymeric microneedle-mediated sustained release systems: Design strategies and promising applications for drug delivery

Li Yang et al.

Summary: Parenteral sustained release drug formulations have been widely used in clinical practice as preferable platforms for long-term exposure therapy. However, the requirement for hypodermic injection hinders their further applications due to issues such as needle-phobia, needle-stick injuries, and inappropriate needle reuse. Microneedles offer an alternative system that is minimally invasive and allows for self-administration.

Prediction of the Rheological Properties of Fresh Cementitious Suspensions Considering Microstructural Parameters

Sam Rajadurai Rajagopalan et al.

Summary: This study investigated the rheological properties of various supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) and predicted the properties using YODEL and K-D's equation. The experiments showed that the rheological properties of all cementitious suspensions increased with increasing solid volume fractions, with improved flowability at low fractions. YODEL and K-D's equation provided accurate predictions without any fitting parameters and can be applied to any multimodal powder suspensions.

Impact of particle flocculation on the dissolution and bioavailability of injectable suspensions

William C. Smith et al.

Summary: Variation in injection method can alter the particle state and dissolution rate of triamcinolone acetonide suspensions, potentially impacting drug bioavailability. Study also shows that deflocculated particles dissolve significantly faster than flocculated particles, highlighting the importance of shear-induced changes during injection on drug dissolution and bioavailability.
