State of the Art of the Molecular Biology of the Interaction between Cocoa and Witches' Broom Disease: A Systematic Review

Ariana Silva Santos et al.

Summary: Significant scientific advances have been made in recent years to understand the Moniliophthora perniciosa pathosystem, but there are still many unanswered questions regarding the molecular biology of this pathogen-host interaction. This systematic review presents insights at the molecular level by analyzing 109 eligible studies out of 1118 extracted from public databases. The findings highlight the importance of understanding the transition between the biotrophic-necrotrophic phase of the fungus for disease control and identify potential proteins and molecular markers for intervention and genetic variability analysis.

Comparison of the interactions of flupyrimin and nitenpyram with serum albumins via multiple analysis methods

Zongyuan Zhao et al.

Summary: Flupyrimin and nitenpyram, neonicotinoid insecticides, interacted with serum albumins through quenching fluorescence and forming complexes via static process, causing conformational and structure changes. Thermodynamic analysis revealed the interactions were mainly driven by hydrogen bonds and hydrophobic forces, with binding constants indicating nitenpyram had greater stability than flupyrimin in binding with albumins. The acute toxicity bioassay showed low toxicity of both insecticides to zebrafish.

Binding of the B-Raf Inhibitors Dabrafenib and Vemurafenib to Human Serum Albumin: A Biophysical and Molecular Simulation Study

Maria Russi et al.

Summary: This study investigates the binding mechanism of two B-Raf tyrosine kinase inhibitors, dabrafenib and vemurafenib, to human serum albumin (HSA). The results show that both drugs bind spontaneously and with a 1:1 stoichiometry to the same binding pocket on HSA, without significantly affecting the protein's secondary structure. However, the nature of the drug-protein interactions differs, with dabrafenib being more entropically driven and vemurafenib being mainly enthalpic. Kinetic analysis reveals similar association rates for both drugs, but vemurafenib has a slightly longer residence time within the HSA binding pocket.

A Comprehensive Investigation of Interactions between Antipsychotic Drug Quetiapine and Human Serum Albumin Using Multi-Spectroscopic, Biochemical, and Molecular Modeling Approaches

Seema Zargar et al.

Summary: This study investigates the interactions and binding mechanism between quetiapine (QTP) and human serum albumin (HSA) using spectroscopic and molecular docking techniques. The experimental results suggest the formation of a complex between QTP and HSA, with the involvement of hydrophobic forces. The study sheds light on the transport and delivery mechanism of QTP via HSA, and may contribute to the design of more effective QTP derivatives.
