Crystal Structures of Two Titanium Phosphate-Based Proton Conductors: Ab Initio Structure Solution and Materials Properties

Hilke Petersen et al.

Summary: Transition-metal phosphates have a wide range of applications and can be used as catalysts, battery materials, and fuel cell membranes. This study successfully determined the structures of two novel titanium pyrophosphates using experimental data, and found that these compounds exhibit good conductivity and potential for electrochemical device applications.

Cation Control of Cooperative CO2 Adsorption in Li-Containing Mixed Cation Forms of the Flexible Zeolite Merlinoite

Veselina M. Georgieva et al.

Summary: The study investigated various forms of merlinoite zeolites and found that the narrow-pore structures formed during dehydration exhibit cooperative adsorption behavior towards CO2, with the pressure and adsorption rate depending on the replacement of different metal ions and the changes in unit cell structure.

Dehydration and lithium ion-exchange of the open framework vanadium silicate VSH-16Na

Rosa Micaela Danisi et al.

Summary: The microporous vanadosilicate VSH-16Na was synthesized under mild hydrothermal conditions and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. After dehydration and lithium ion exchange, structural changes were observed with decreased unit-cell volume and alkali deficiency. The presence of hydronium ions was inferred to counterbalance the positive charge deficit.

Interaction of water with zeolites: a review

Daniel E. Resasco et al.

Summary: Water plays a crucial role in various thermal treatments and reactions involving zeolite catalysts, with different types of water interactions impacting the stability, structure, and reactivity of these catalysts. This review examines current knowledge on water adsorption and nucleation on zeolite surfaces, as well as the role of zeolite defects, cations, and extra framework species. Experimental and computational studies on water interaction with zeolites of different properties are reviewed and analyzed, highlighting the mechanisms involved in steaming processes and the impact of water on zeolite reactivity.
