Epidemiology of geriatric patients presenting to emergency departments in Europe: EGERS study

Summary: This prospective study investigated the epidemiological characteristics and hospitalization rates of elderly patients in emergency departments (EDs) across Europe. The majority of these patients, aged 65 and above, had comorbidities and required hospital admission after ED visits, with an overall in-hospital mortality rate of 8%.
