Discrimination and polyphenol compositions of green teas with seasonal variations based on UPLC-QTOF/MS combined with chemometrics

Guangyun He et al.

Summary: The chemical constituents of tea leaves are influenced by various factors, leading to significant seasonal variations in the tea metabolome. A pattern recognition method based on UPLC-Q-TOF/MS and chemometrics was developed to distinguish green teas with seasonal variations, showing great potential for quality evaluation and seasonal identification of green teas.

Assessment of nine gridded temperature data for modeling of wheat production systems

Alireza Araghi et al.

Summary: This study aimed to identify the most appropriate gridded temperature data (GTD) for crop simulation modeling. Results showed that AgCFSR, AgMERRA, PGF, and AgERA5 had the best performance, while NCEP and GLDAS had the weakest performance. AgERA5 can be recommended for temperature-related agricultural simulations for the study area in Iran and similar environmental regions.

Impact of climate change on inter-annual variation in tea plant output in Zhejiang, China

Weiping Lou et al.

Summary: Recent studies show that climate change is significantly impacting tea plant output, with high temperature and drought being the main factors. The start date of spring tea picking is earlier, while economic losses from frost have decreased markedly, and the plucking period for certain grades has shortened. Summer and autumn tea production is mainly affected by high temperatures and drought, which also influence the economic output of spring tea.

Dynamic modelling of cold-hardiness in tea buds by imitating past temperature memory

Kensuke Kimura et al.

Summary: In this study, a new dynamic model of cold-hardiness was developed using tea plant buds as the research subject. The model, which simulates past temperature memory, accurately predicted cold-hardiness values by capturing over 90% of the observed variation. The optimized forgetting function revealed that tea buds memorize both short-term and long-term temperatures, impacting biological processes related to cold-hardiness.

Forecasting frost risk in forest plantations by the combination of spatial data and machine learning algorithms

Ecio Souza Diniz et al.

Summary: This study utilized machine learning algorithms to forecast frost risk in forest plantations in the south-central region of Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. The Random Forest algorithm demonstrated the highest accuracy in predicting frost occurrence compared to Support Vector Machine and Multi-layer Perceptron classifiers. Latitude was identified as the most important predictor of frost occurrence in this study.

Model analysis of temperature impact on the Norway spruce provenance specific bud burst and associated risk of frost damage

Tetiana Svystun et al.

Summary: The annual growth cycle of boreal trees is affected by warmer climate, leading to earlier bud burst and increased frost damage risk. Provenance specific temperature sum requirements for bud burst were correlated with origin, and earlier bud burst timing was linked to higher frost damage risk. Assessments of frost risk under climate change can aid in selecting appropriate seed sources for Swedish forestry.
