Sulfonate-modified calixarene-based porous organic polymers for electrostatic enhancement and efficient rapid removal of cationic dyes in water

Lechen Tian et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel porous organic polymer CaPy was constructed and sulfonate groups were anchored onto its skeleton to obtain three sulfonate-modified polymers CaPy-S1, CaPy-S2, and CaPy-S3. The adsorption capacities of these polymers for methylene blue (MB) and Rhodamine B (RhB) were determined and compared. Effective decontamination of methylene blue from aqueous solutions using novel nano-magnetic biochar from green pea peels

Norbert Onen Rubangakene et al.

Summary: The synthesis and effectiveness of green pea peels (GPP), green pea biochar (GPBC), and nano-ferromagnetic green pea biochar (NFGPBC) for the removal of cationic dyes molecules were studied. The NFGPBC showed excellent magnetization performance and better adsorption capacity compared to GPP and GPBC. The adsorption kinetics followed the pseudo-second-order and Elovich models, and the thermodynamic parameters indicated the favorability, spontaneity, and endothermic nature of methylene blue sorption. The regenerated NFGPBC exhibited excellent cyclic performances. Therefore, NFGPBC is recommended as a green and efficient material for wastewater treatment.

Carbonyl-interfaced-biochar derived from unique capillary structures via one-step carbonization with selective methyl blue adsorption capability

Richard Appiah-Ntiamoah et al.

Summary: Researchers have found that biochar dye adsorbents are considered green and low-cost compared to metals/oxides and polymers. However, most biochar adsorbents require multi-step chemical activation with toxic chemicals, which affects their reliability. Therefore, it is necessary to develop low-toxic chemical activators or discover new biomass sources that can generate high-value biochar adsorbents through physical activation.
