Identifying spatiotemporal information of the point pollutant source indoors based on the adjoint-regularization method

Summary: Fast and accurate identification of pollutant source location and release rate is crucial for improving indoor air quality. Particularly in public buildings, identifying the airborne pathogen source is important for ensuring people's safety and health. This study proposed an algorithm combining the adjoint-pulse and regularization methods to accurately identify the spatiotemporal information of point pollutant sources. The results showed high accuracy in estimating source intensities and successfully locating the sources, making this method suitable for identifying airborne pathogen sources in public buildings with disease-specific biomarkers sensors.

Role of pathogen-laden expiratory droplet dispersion and natural ventilation explaining a COVID-19 outbreak in a coach bus
