Integrated physiologic and proteomic analysis of Stropharia rugosoannulata mycelia in response to Cd stress

Qin Dong et al.

Summary: Soil Cd pollution is a serious threat to the environment and human health. This study investigated the physiological and proteomic differences in Stropharia rugosoannulata mycelia under low and high Cd stress. The results showed that Cd accumulation and mycelial growth inhibition were concentration-dependent. Analysis of the antioxidant system revealed key roles for SOD, GR, GSH, GSSG, and ASA in resisting the toxic effects of Cd. Proteome analysis identified numerous differentially expressed proteins under low and high Cd stress. Further elucidation of the response mechanisms in S. rugosoannulata to Cd stress was provided.

Impact of imidacloprid exposure on the biochemical responses, transcriptome, gut microbiota and growth performance of the Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei

Zhenqiang Fu et al.

Summary: Exposure of Litopenaeus vannamei to imidacloprid leads to oxidative stress and decreased immunity, disrupted gut microbiota function, and overall transcriptome changes. Imidacloprid also inhibits autophagy pathways and affects detoxification gene expression in shrimp, resulting in internal toxicity.

The effects of ammonia stress exposure on protein degradation, immune response, degradation of nitrogen-containing compounds and energy metabolism of Chinese mitten crab

Dan Tang et al.

Summary: This study utilized comparative transcriptome analysis to identify key genes and pathways in the hepatopancreas of Chinese mitten crab under ammonia stress. The results showed significant downregulation of genes involved in protein degradation and energy metabolism, indicating decreased overall biological activity. Additionally, five genes related to high concentrations of ammonia were discovered and validated.

Transcriptome analysis reveals the molecular mechanism of long-term exposure of Eriocheir sinensis to low concentration of trichlorfon

Mengru Zhu et al.

Summary: Trichlorphon, a common organophosphorus pesticide, is widely used in aquaculture but its repeated use can contaminate water bodies and harm aquatic species. This study analyzed the effects of long-term trichlorfon stress on Chinese shrimp, revealing significant DEGs related to metabolism, apoptosis, and autophagy pathways, providing a foundation for further understanding the physiological toxicity and molecular toxicological evaluation of trichlorfon in aquaculture.

Zhiquan Liu et al.

Summary: This study used global transcriptome sequencing to investigate the impact of nanoplastic exposure on gene expression levels in Daphnia neonates, revealing key genes associated with oxidative stress, immune defense, and glycometabolism. Daphnia provides some molecular insights into nanoplastic toxicity, but further research on differentially expressed genes is needed to better understand the underlying mechanisms.

Insights into Aldehyde Dehydrogenase Enzymes: A Structural Perspective

Kim Shortall et al.

Summary: Aldehyde dehydrogenases (ALDHs) play crucial roles in cellular functions, but dysfunction can lead to various diseases, emphasizing the importance of understanding the structure-function relationship. Key structural features of ALDH include cofactor binding domain, active site, and oligomerization mechanism, crucial for maintaining normal activity. Integration of structural, functional, and biophysical studies of bacterial and eukaryotic ALDHs contributes to appreciating diversity within the superfamily.
