Cadmium Removal from Contaminated Soil by Electro-Kinetic Method

Laith Hamdan Hawal et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the use of electro kinetic method to remove cadmium from polluted soil. The experiments showed that lower pH and higher voltage led to better removal rates. Rice husks were found to be an effective and cost-free adsorbent medium to counteract reverse osmosis.

Copper metal elimination from polluted soil by electro-kinetic technique

Laith Hamdan Hawal et al.

Summary: The electro kinetic method was used to remove copper from contaminated soil. Improved conditions including pH changes and the use of SDS and DPF were employed. The results showed that decreasing the pH and incorporating SDS increased the removal capacity, while the use of DPF effectively countered the reverse flow.

Source apportionment and ecological and health risk mapping of soil heavy metals based on PMF, SOM, and GIS methods in Hulan River Watershed, Northeastern China

Yiming Xu et al.

Summary: This research assessed the source apportionment and ecological and health risks of soil heavy metals in the Hulan River Watershed, Northeastern China through various methods. The findings indicate that heavy metals in agricultural soils pose a potential threat to food security, soil security, and human health. The study highlights the importance of pollution source reduction and soil restoration measures to mitigate ecological and health risks.

Pollution and contamination level of Cu, Cd, and Hg heavy metals in soil and food crop

Ramlan et al.

Summary: The study assessed the accumulation of Cu, Cd, and Hg heavy metals in soil and their contamination in plant tissues in Grand Forest Park, Palu, Indonesia. Significant correlations were found between Cd and Hg concentrations in soil and plant tissues. Transfer factor values indicated higher accumulation of Hg in plants compared to Cu and Cd.

Chromium Elimination from Contaminated Soil by Electro-Kinetic Remediation, Using Garlic Peels Powder

Laith Hamdan Hawal et al.

Summary: The electro-kinetic technique was effectively applied to remove chromium from contaminated soil with low permeability. The use of garlic peels powder as an adsorbent material helped prevent the flow of reverse osmosis, resulting in higher removal percentages. It was observed that the removal percentage increased as the pH of the purging solutions decreased.

Adsorption of Lead Ions from Aqueous Solutions onto Rice Husks, Continuous System

Laith Hamdan Hawal et al.

Summary: Rice husks were found to be an effective and inexpensive adsorbent for removing lead, with removal capacity influenced by factors such as pH, adsorbent height, lead concentration, flow rate, and processing time. Optimal removal was achieved at pH 4, with an adsorbent height of 50 cm, initial lead concentration of 10 mg/l, processing time of 90 minutes, and flow rate of 10 ml/min.
