A novel data-driven sparse polynomial chaos expansion for high-dimensional problems based on active subspace and sparse Bayesian learning

Wanxin He et al.

Summary: This study proposes an active learning active subspace-based data-driven sparse polynomial chaos expansion (PCE) method to solve high-dimensional uncertainty problems. The method uses active subspace theory to reduce the dimension of the input space and establish data-driven polynomial chaos bases. It combines sparse Bayesian learning with manifold learning to obtain the subspace mapping matrix without requiring the probability distribution of input variables. The proposed method is verified using numerical examples and shows effectiveness in solving high-dimensional uncertainty quantification problems.

A unified approach for global sensitivity analysis based on active subspace and Kriging

Changcong Zhou et al.

Summary: A global sensitivity analysis approach based on the theory of active subspaces and Kriging surrogate metamodeling is developed, which provides three GSA measures at different steps. The approach is demonstrated to be applicable in various test cases, showing its ability to provide different aspects of information from a single set of model runs. The proposed approach is successfully applied to a radome structure in fiber reinforced composites to identify the most significant inputs for its safety.

Geometric Moment-Dependent Global Sensitivity Analysis without Simulation Data: Application to Ship Hull Form Optimisation

Shahroz Khan et al.

Summary: In this study, a method to expedite Global Sensitivity Analysis (GSA) in the context of shape optimization of free-form shapes is proposed and tested. The method utilizes a Shape-Signature-Vector (SSV) as a substitute for physics and uses geometric moments as quantity-of-interest (QoI) for prior estimation of parametric sensitivities. The proposed approach significantly reduces the computational cost and shows a strong correlation between the sensitive parameters obtained with respect to SSV and those based on the wave-making resistance coefficient (Cw). Two design spaces are constructed based on SSV and Cw, and their capability to provide an optimized solution is analyzed.
