Developing bearing capacity model for geogrid-reinforced stone columns improved soft clay utilizing MARS-EBS hybrid method

Summary: Estimating the ultimate bearing capacity of a geogrid-reinforced sandy bed on vertical stone columns in soft clay is challenging due to the complex geometry and lack of knowledge about the parameters that affect it. Developing an accurate prediction model can be beneficial in practical applications. This study developed a model using MARS and EBS algorithms, with 219 experimental samples, and found that the undrained shear strength of unreinforced clay is the most essential input parameter for assessing bearing capacity.
