Uncertainty quantification of dynamical systems by a POD-Kriging surrogate model

Biswarup Bhattacharyya

Summary: This article presents a combined surrogate model based on proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) and the Kriging model for uncertainty quantification (UQ) of dynamical systems. The model represents the stochastic response quantity using a lower number of bases and is able to accurately predict the time-dependent statistical moments of long time integration problems. It also shows high prediction accuracy for a building subjected to Gaussian white noise base acceleration, compared to a similar surrogate model.

Exploiting active subspaces of hyperparameters for efficient high-dimensional Kriging modeling

Liming Chen et al.

Summary: This study investigates a method for accelerating the training process of Kriging by projecting the original high-dimensional hyperparameter space onto a low-dimensional subspace, reducing the number of hyperparameters. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves a reasonable trade-off between modeling efficiency and model accuracy for high-dimensional problems.

An estimation variance reduction-guided adaptive Kriging method for efficient time-variant structural reliability analysis

Zhouzhou Song et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an estimation variance reduction-guided adaptive Kriging method (VARAK) for time-variant reliability analysis. The method considers the correlation between time trajectories and introduces a new stopping criterion to improve computational efficiency and accuracy. Experimental results show that the proposed method can achieve fast convergence of estimated failure probability to the true value and appropriately terminate the computation to avoid oversampling when accuracy is high enough.

A model validation framework based on parameter calibration under aleatory and epistemic uncertainty

Jiexiang Hu et al.

Summary: A new model validation framework based on parameter calibration under uncertainty is proposed, using a stochastic kriging model to predict the validity of candidate simulation models and using K-S test to decide the acceptance or rejection of the calibrated simulation model. The framework is illustrated through examples and shows its effectiveness in identifying appropriate parameters for calibration and providing correct judgments about the validity of candidate models in practical engineering design.
