Deep Learning-Based Cost-Effective and Responsive Robot for Autism Treatment

Aditya Singh et al.

Summary: Recent studies have shown that individuals with autism spectrum disorder often show improved learning outcomes when technological tools are used. This paper presents a cost-efficient, socially designed robot called 'Tinku' that is developed to assist in teaching special needs children. 'Tinku' is equipped with advanced features including offline speech processing, computer vision, and deep learning techniques for object recognition and semantic perception. The robot has been tested on small children and has shown promising results in helping autistic kids through state-of-the-art deep learning models. Rating: 8/10

Enhanced group method of data handling (GMDH) for permeability prediction based on the modified Levenberg Marquardt technique from well log data

Alvin K. Mulashani et al.

Summary: This study introduces an enhanced GMDH method based on modified Levenberg-Marquardt (LM) for predicting permeability, which shows a reasonable reduction in processing time with high accuracy. Compared to conventional GMDH and backpropagation neural networks (BPNN), the GMDH-LM used 30% less computation time and performed excellently during training with minimal error values.

Recycled lump concrete-filled FRP tubular columns: Axial compressive behavior and size effects

B. Wu et al.

Summary: In recent years, FRP confinement has been widely used to enhance the strength, deformation capacity and durability of concrete. This study investigated the beneficial effects of FRP confinement on recycled lump concrete (RLC)-filled FRP tubes (RLCFFT) and whether the axial compressive behavior of RLCFFT is subject to size effect. The test results showed that there was no appreciable size effect in the compressive behavior of RLCFFT columns with the same FRP confinement stiffness.

MGLNN: Semi-supervised learning via Multiple Graph Cooperative Learning Neural Networks

Bo Jiang et al.

Summary: The problem of multiple graph learning involves learning consistent representation by exploiting the complementary information of multiple graphs. This paper proposes a novel learning framework, called Multiple Graph Learning Neural Networks (MGLNN), which aims to learn an optimal graph structure from multiple graph structures and integrate multiple graph learning and Graph Neural Networks' representation. Experimental results demonstrate that MGLNN outperforms other methods on semi-supervised classification tasks.

Compound concrete-filled FRP tubular columns under cyclic axial compression

J. K. Zhou et al.

Summary: The study presents experimental results on compound concrete filled FRP tubular columns, demonstrating that the use of external FRP confining tubes can improve the mechanical properties and durability of concrete. The inclusion of RCLs has a marginal effect on the cyclic stress-strain behavior of FRP-confined concrete.

Structural assessment of eccentrically loaded GFRP reinforced circular concrete columns: Experiments and finite element analysis

Ali Raza et al.

Summary: This study investigated the structural performance of GFRP reinforced circular concrete columns with polypropylene macro synthetic fibers (GMSFRC columns) and compared them with identical steel bars reinforced concrete columns (SMSFRC columns) under concentric and eccentric loading. The experimental results showed that SMSFRC columns had higher axial load-carrying capacity and lower deformation capacity compared to GMSFRC columns. Both types of columns exhibited similar failure behavior, and the finite element analysis model predicted the structural behavior of GMSFRC columns with good accuracy.

Structural Behavior of GFRP-Reinforced Circular HFRC Columns Under Concentric and Eccentric Loading

Ali Raza et al.

Summary: This study compares the structural behavior of steel-reinforced concrete columns and GFRP-reinforced concrete columns with hybrid fibers, showing that SHFC columns have better axial strength and ultimate deflections while GHFC columns exhibit higher ductility indices. The failure modes and reductions in axial strength under eccentricities are similar between steel and GHFC columns. The newly developed empirical model for predicting the axial strength of GHFC columns shows close agreement with experimental results, supporting the proposed model's application.
