An optimization model for construction project scheduling by considering CO2 emissions with multi-mode resource constraints under interval-valued fuzzy uncertainty

S. Aramesh et al.

Summary: In Iran, the reliance on fossil fuels for the energy system leads to significant greenhouse gas emissions, particularly carbon dioxide (CO2). This paper presents a new mathematical model for a multi-mode resource-constrained project scheduling problem with CO2 emissions as a greenness index. The model aims to minimize project completion time, costs, and emitted CO2, while maximizing project quality. The study also proposes a new solving method to address uncertainty in the model. A case study in Iran demonstrates the impact of the model on real projects and presents Pareto front solutions to illustrate trade-offs between objectives.

A new approach for production project scheduling with time-cost-quality trade-off considering multi-mode resource-constraints under interval uncertainty

M. Ghasemi et al.

Summary: This paper explores how to plan production in uncertain conditions by integrating decision-making methods with production scheduling models, considering limited resources. A new mathematical model is proposed to schedule production projects with multiple execution modes, taking into account the trade-off between cost, time, and quality. An interval-based group decision-making method is developed to handle uncertain information. The proposed method is validated using a real-world production project and two datasets, and a sensitivity analysis is conducted.

Multi-Objective multi-skill resource-constrained project scheduling problem with skill switches: Model and evolutionary approaches

Yuan Tian et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new extension of the multi-skill resource-constrained project scheduling problem with skill switches. It develops a mixed-integer programming model to minimize project completion time and total cost. The paper also proposes a new solution representation scheme, a schedule builder scheme, and mutation operators to improve the performance of the multi-objective evolution strategy framework. Experimental results show that the proposed methods can effectively improve the convergence, spread, and diversity of the Pareto Front.

Multi-skill resource constrained project scheduling using a multi-objective discrete Jaya algorithm

Yang-Yuan Li et al.

Summary: This paper presents a multi-objective discrete Jaya algorithm to address the multi-skill resource constrained project scheduling problem, aiming to minimize makespan and total cost simultaneously. The algorithm enhances exploration ability using simple heuristics and efficient encoding and decoding pairs to construct feasible schedules, while also proposing different assignment criteria to increase solution diversity. The performance evaluation on a benchmark dataset indicates the superiority of the proposed MODJaya algorithm in solving the multi-objective MS-RCPSP.

An efficient hybrid integer and categorical particle swarm optimization algorithm for the multi-mode multi-project inverse scheduling problem in turbine assembly workshop

Yahui Zhang et al.

Summary: This article discusses the multi-mode multi-project inverse scheduling problem in a turbine assembly workshop of a Chinese electric power station equipment manufacturing firm. It proposes an improved algorithm called MICPSO-TS, which uses double-vector encoding to optimize activity modes and overtime schedules of projects. A hybrid heuristic decoding algorithm HHDA is also introduced. Experimental tests and a real-world engineering case verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed MICPSO-TS.
