Investigation of control characteristics in multi-user building heating system based on demand-side adjustment

Ruixin Wang et al.

Summary: Multi-user heating buildings based on demand-side adjustment have the potential to save energy and improve heat efficiency. This study establishes a multi-level control model based on the actual situation of a multi-user heating building, and investigates the adjustment characteristics to effectively control the system. The results show that the adjustment mode and control period have significant effects on the heating system.

Field demonstration and implementation analysis of model predictive control in an office HVAC system

David Blum et al.

Summary: Model Predictive Control (MPC) is a promising technique for HVAC systems, but has not been widely adopted due to factors such as high implementation expertise requirements, lack of high quality data, and industry risk aversion. This study demonstrates the implementation of MPC using a developed tool-chain in a real office building, discussing challenges and estimating implementation effort to inform future workflow development.

On energy-efficient HVAC operation with Model Predictive Control: A multiple climate zone study

Naren Srivaths Raman et al.

Summary: This paper quantifies the performance of Model Predictive Control (MPC) for a commercial building HVAC system across different climate and weather conditions. The study finds that MPC can achieve significant energy savings and maintain indoor climate, but its performance varies depending on climate, season, and the consideration of humidity. These results are valuable for assessing the costs and benefits of MPC formulations for HVAC control.

Towards comfortable and cost-effective indoor temperature management in smart homes: A deep reinforcement learning method combined with future information

Zeqing Wu et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a smart home-based temperature control framework based on deep learning and reinforcement learning to automatically control indoor temperature. The framework adjusts the heat pump power and ventilation system volume to minimize costs while maintaining indoor comfort. The Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) criterion is applied to scientifically evaluate human thermal comfort. The proposed framework achieves significant cost savings in both winter and summer.
