Experimental study on the in-situ foam performance stabilized by microbial polysaccharide and its diverting characteristics at high temperature

Jingyi Zhu et al.

Summary: This study aims to create a stable in-situ foam system and investigate its potential as a diverting agent in high temperature heterogeneous reservoirs. The experiment showed that in-situ foam can block large pore volume and exhibit good diverting ability during subsequent water flooding. The in-situ foam has good thermal stability and diverting ability at 150 degrees in the permeability contrast range of 3 to 8.

Probing high-salinity-enhanced stability of betaine foam for foam application in harsh reservoirs

Lin Sun et al.

Summary: This study showed that salts can enhance the stability of betaine foam in high-salinity reservoirs, with oleicyl dimethyl amidopropyl carboxybetaine exhibiting the strongest stability. The superior stability is dominated by the viscoelastic micelle induced by high salinity.

Interfacial Dilational Rheology of Molecular Films in DC Electric Fields

Sameer Mhatre et al.

Summary: This study presents a novel technique to measure the interfacial dilational rheology of a molecular film adsorbed at a water-oil interface using a direct-current electric field. The analysis involves calculating the dynamic interfacial tension through a specific algorithm, and estimating the surface moduli based on the amplitude and phase difference of the interfacial tension waveform. The results demonstrate that the elasticity of the asphaltene films increases with increasing bulk concentrations and electric field strengths, although the effect is influenced by the combination of these parameters.

Factors influencing the stability of natural gas foam prepared by alkyl polyglycosides and its decay rules

Yiping Wen et al.

Summary: The study investigated the natural gas foam system with alkyl polyglycoside (APG) as foaming agent, exploring the factors influencing foam stability and establishing a foam drainage kinetics model. Results showed the optimal APG chain length range for foam stability and the impact of metal ions valence and polymer types on stability. This study enriches the understanding of APG foam stability and provides theoretical support for enhancing oil recovery with natural gas foam.

Visualization of CO2 foam generation, propagation and sweep in a complex 2D heterogeneous fracture network

Fayang Jin et al.

Summary: This study used a visual two-dimensional heterogeneous fracture network model to investigate CO2 foam generation, propagation, and sweep under different injection strategies. The results indicated that co-injection strategy was more effective in forming stable foam morphologies and achieving better sweep efficiency compared to SAG and continuous gas injection strategies.

Research on the Properties of Natural Gas Foamed Gel as a Profile Control and an Oil Displacement Agent in Strong Heterogeneous Reservoirs

Nanjun Lai et al.

Summary: In order to alleviate uneven production in extreme heterogeneous reservoirs, a natural gas foamed gel system was developed by adding a gel system to the foaming agent solution. The study analyzed the stability and effectiveness of this system under different conditions, and found that it showed good performance in enhancing oil recovery in extreme heterogeneous formations.

An Investigation of Mechanistic Foam Modeling for Optimum Field Development of CO2 Foam EOR Application

Mohammad Izadi et al.

Summary: This study develops a framework to determine the optimum injection condition during foam EOR processes by using a mechanistic foam model. The graphical approach demonstrates how to determine the optimum injection condition and how it changes at different field operating conditions and limitations. The study shows that injection of foams can significantly improve cumulative oil recovery and sweep efficiency compared to gas/water injection with no foams.

A pore-scale study of foam-microemulsion interaction during low tension gas flooding using microfluidics- secondary recovery

Alolika Das et al.

Summary: The study investigates the oil displacement flow mechanisms in different types of microemulsion systems during secondary LTG flooding by replicating the process in a waterwet micromodel. Unique oil displacement flow mechanisms were identified for Type I and Type III microemulsion systems, as well as variations depending on whether the injected liquid was equilibrated or non-equilibrated microemulsion. The in-situ generated foam was observed to enhance microemulsion equilibrium rate and improve oil recovery rates for secondary LTG flooding.
