Experimental investigation of PV/T and thermoelectric systems using CNT/water nanofluids

Leila Abesh Ahmadlou et al.

Summary: This study experimentally investigated the thermal performance of a Photovoltaic-thermal (PV/T) and thermoelectric (TE) system using two nanofluids. Single-walled Carbon nanotube/water (SWCNT/water) and multi-walled Carbon nanotube/water (MWCNT/water) with a mass fraction of 0.02% were evaluated as the working fluid. Measurements were conducted from 10:00 to 16:30 daily in November 2021 in Tehran, Iran. The results showed that the application of SWCNT/water nanofluid led to the highest performance of the solar system. The use of nanofluids reduced the PV/T surface temperature and improved the output generated power and efficiency. The TE module also exhibited improved performance with the application of the nanofluids, particularly with SWCNT/water nanofluid.

A. A. Kandil et al.

Summary: Using a beam-splitting system can enhance electricity generation by harnessing full-spectrum solar radiation. An experimental and theoretical study was conducted to evaluate the performance of two configurations: a standalone photovoltaic system and a photovoltaic/thermoelectric generator hybrid system with a beam-splitting configuration. The results show that the hybrid system significantly improves the power output compared to the standalone system.

Achieving extensive lossless coupling of photovoltaic and thermoelectric devices through parallel connection

Ershuai Yin et al.

Summary: This paper investigates lossless coupling methods for photovoltaic and thermoelectric devices in hybrid systems. The performance of three connection modes (electrically separated, series, and parallel) are experimentally compared, and the electrical-thermal interaction characteristics are investigated with theoretical methods. The results demonstrate that parallel connection achieves extensive lossless coupling and is more stable compared to series connection.

Mkpamdi N. Eke et al.

Summary: This study conducts thermodynamic modeling and analysis of a spectrum splitting tandem perovskite/silicon solar cell. The results show that increasing the halide composition improves the system's performance, and this effect becomes more noticeable at higher solar irradiances. It is also found that utilizing a TEC to control the backplate temperature is not beneficial when a beam splitter is used.
