This study focuses on energy-specific technology and finds that it is beneficial in reducing energy intensity, with energy-saving technology being more effective than alternative energy technology. Enterprises play a key role in cutting energy intensity, and utility-type energy-specific technology has a stronger reduction effect compared to creation-type. Technological absorption capacity is identified as an important determinant for the effectiveness of energy-specific technology in reducing energy intensity.
