Speed-Current Single-Loop Control With Overcurrent Protection for PMSM Based on Time-Varying Nonlinear Disturbance Observer

Yao Wang et al.

Summary: A novel finite-time control method with q-axis current constrained based on time-varying second-order nonlinear disturbance observer was investigated to improve the overcurrent protection and disturbance rejection performance of permanent magnet synchronous motor system. The proposed control method can achieve high-precision tracking performance while protecting the system from overcurrent damage.

Speed Control of DC Motor with MRPID Controller in the Presence of Noise

Abhas Kanungo et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a multi-resolution proportional integral derivative (MRPID) controller for speed control of a DC motor and compares its performance with conventional PID and fractional order PID (FOPID) controllers. The results show that the MRPID controller exhibits better transient characteristics and disturbance rejection in the presence of noise.

SMO-Based Sensorless Control of a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor

Xin Liu et al.

Summary: This article proposes a sliding mode observer with phase-locked loop (PLL) to reduce chattering and improve the accuracy of rotor speed and position estimation. The observer accurately estimates the back electromotive force (EMF) and compensates for phase lag to obtain more accurate speed estimation.

Full-Order Terminal Sliding-Mode-Based Sensorless Control of Induction Motor With Gain Adaptation

Minghao Zhou et al.

Summary: This article proposes a sensorless speed control approach of Induction motor (IM) using full-order terminal sliding-mode (FOTSM) control theory. The approach consists of three feedback control loops for speed, flux, and current control, with FOTSM controllers designed to improve robustness and dynamic performance. The outer-loop speed controller utilizes virtual control technique to compensate for uncertainties in the system, while the inner-loop controllers ensure convergence of current tracking errors. A FOTSM observer is also designed for simultaneous estimation of motor flux and speed. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed approach for sensorless speed control of IM.

Torque Estimation using Kalman Filter and Extended Kalman Filter Algorithms for a sensorless Direct Torque Controlled BLDC Motor drive: A Comparative Study

Deepthi S. Nair et al.

Summary: This paper describes torque estimation for Direct Torque Controlled BLDC motor drive using Kalman Filter and Extended Kalman Filter, comparing the two algorithms in directly estimating torque without the need for feedback information. The study also focuses on the reflection of load changes in the control algorithm. The Extended Kalman Filter algorithm is found to be superior in terms of performance parameters such as computational effort and torque ripple reduction, which is validated in the study.
