Enrichment control factors and exploration potential of lacustrine shale oil and gas: A case study of Jurassic in the Fuling area of the Sichuan Basin

Dongfeng Hu et al.

Summary: This study analyzes the geological conditions and potential for the accumulation of lacustrine shale oil and gas in the Fuling area of the Sichuan Basin. The research reveals that the area has a wide distribution of high-quality Jurassic semi-deep lake shale with favorable characteristics such as high organic matter abundance, porosity, and gas content. The developed syncline and microfractures play a crucial role in the enrichment and high yield of shale oil and gas. The study identifies the significant exploration potential of shale oil and gas in the area and highlights its importance for oil and gas reserves and production increase.

Spatial variability of soil moisture in a mining subsidence area of northwest China

Lu Bai et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of coal mining on deep soil moisture by analyzing the absolute value of soil moisture. The results showed that mining increases the spatial variability of soil moisture, but the degree of variability decreases as subsidence enters the stable period. This provides evidence for the mechanism by which coal mining subsidence affects soil moisture.

Spontaneous imbibition characteristics of shale oil reservoir under the influence of osmosis

Yuliang Su et al.

Summary: This study investigates the mechanisms of osmosis in the spontaneous imbibition (SI) process in shale oil reservoirs. Experimental methods were used to examine the effect of osmosis on high-salinity and low-salinity fluid SI, and it was found that newly formed pores or microfractures as well as reducing salinity can enhance the SI process.
