Exhaust Emissions Measurement of a Vehicle with Retrofitted LPG System

Branislav Sarkan et al.

Summary: The aim of this study was to compare and evaluate the exhaust emissions from a vehicle with a petrol engine and powered by petrol and LPG. The results showed that using LPG for combustion resulted in lower CO and CO2 emissions, but higher HC and NOx emissions compared to using petrol. The practical measurements revealed that the vehicle exceeded the CO emission limit set by the Euro 4 standard when burning both petrol and LPG.

Assessment of Emissions and Energy Consumption for Construction Machinery in Earthwork Activities by Incorporating Real-World Measurement and Discrete-Event Simulation

Beichuan Hong et al.

Summary: Earthwork, a crucial activity in construction projects, has significant adverse environmental impacts due to excessive fuel consumption and air pollution. This study quantifies the emissions and fuel consumption of construction equipment in a Chinese earthwork project and proposes methodologies for evaluation and improvement. The study found significant emission variations among different duty cycles and developed a simulation framework to optimize the equipment fleet schedule, resulting in reduced greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption.

Impact of Active Diesel Particulate Filter Regeneration on Carbon Dioxide, Nitrogen Oxides and Particle Number Emissions from Euro 5 and 6 Vehicles under Laboratory Testing and Real-World Driving

Athanasios Dimaratos et al.

Summary: This study assessed the impact of active diesel particulate filter (DPF) regeneration on the performance and emissions of Euro 5 and 6 vehicles. The results showed a significant effect of DPF regeneration on CO2, NOx, and PN emissions, especially during driving cycle testing in the laboratory. Additionally, the study calculated the impact of regeneration on efficiency and proposed new NOx emission factors (EF) based on the emission control system.

Effect of diesel particulate filter regeneration on fuel consumption and emissions performance under real-driving conditions

Yuhan Huang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of active diesel particulate filter (DPF) regenerations on fuel consumption and emissions of a diesel vehicle under real-world driving conditions. The results show that DPF regenerations increase fuel consumption and emissions, including CO, THC, and PM.

Effect of SCR downsizing and ammonia slip catalyst coating on the emissions from a heavy-duty diesel engine

Yunhua Zhang et al.

Summary: The combination of diesel oxidation catalyst, catalyzed diesel particulate filter and selective catalytic reduction is the most effective way to reduce particulate emissions and nitrogen oxide from diesel engines. Improvements such as ammonia slip catalyst coating and SCR catalyst downsizing also have an impact on NOx conversion efficiency and ammonia slip.
