Diazotization Grafting Phenol for Improving the Electrochemical Performance of Graphite Anode

Haohua Yang et al.

Summary: This study presents a method of grafted phenol on graphite anodes to address the capacity fading issue in lithium-ion batteries. The diazotization grafting phenol expands the interlayer spacing of graphite and forms a surface protective layer, while the phenol modifier contributes additional specific capacity. After 300 cycles, the modified graphite anode retains a high capacity compared to the initial cycle.

Principle in developing novel fluorinated sulfone electrolyte for high voltage lithium-ion batteries†

Chi-Cheung Su et al.

Summary: The beta-fluorinated sulfones have lower reduction potential than alpha-fluorinated sulfones, leading to improved stability, and reduced lithium solvating power compared to regular sulfones, mitigating transition metal dissolution in cathodes for long-term cycling of full cells. The middle ground properties of beta-fluorinated sulfones pave a new path for effective electrolyte system development.
