Dihydroxanthene-Based Near-infrared Fluorescent Probes for Monitoring Mitochondrial Viscosity in Living Cells and Mice

Xue Wu et al.

Summary: In this study, three near-infrared fluorescent probes, named DHX-V-1-3, were developed for monitoring mitochondrial viscosity. DHX-V-3 showed the highest signal-to-noise ratio and excellent selectivity and targeting ability for mitochondria. It was successfully used to image mitochondrial viscosity in live cells and visualize increased viscosity in LPS-treated mice.

Mitochondria-targeted fluorescent probe for imaging viscosity in hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury cell model

Dicheng Xie et al.

Summary: The viscosity of cell microenvironment affects cell physiological processes. A fluorescent probe X-V was designed to detect viscosity changes in a hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (HIRI) cell model with high selectivity and sensitivity. The probe has a fluorescence emission wavelength of 615 nm and a Stokes shift of up to 125 nm, making it useful for studying intracellular viscosity changes and cell viscosity changes in the HIRI cell model. Probe X-V provides a valuable tool for studying the relationship between mitochondrial viscosity and related diseases.

Recent progress in fluorescent probes for bacteria

Yurou Huang et al.

Summary: Bacteria are closely related to food fermentation, antibiotics, and pollutant degradation, playing both essential and harmful roles in human life. Therefore, effective strategies for accurate monitoring of bacteria are urgently needed. Fluorescence imaging technology, especially the design of organic fluorescent probes, has shown great potential in the detection and imaging of bacteria, offering high specificity and sensitivity with minimal invasiveness.
