Synthesis of novel dyes containing a dichlorotriazine group and their applications on nylon 6 and wool

Nadia Banitorfi Hoveizavi et al.

Summary: Two new azo reactive disperse dyes were synthesized using cyanuric chloride as a reactive component for dyeing nylon fabric. The dyes were characterized and their structures confirmed by various analytical techniques. The dyes demonstrated good color uniformity and build-up on nylon 6 and wool fabrics, and showed higher color yield compared to corresponding disperse dyes. However, their fastness properties were lower than those of reactive disperse dyes due to limited reaction with the fabric surface.

An alternative strategy for the synthesis of disazo disperse dyes and their application on polyester fabric

Lei Qian et al.

Summary: Due to limitations in dye solubility, crosslinking reactions between two monoazo disperse dyes often result in low yield and multiple by-products. This study employed an alternative synthetic strategy involving the synthesis of crosslinked coupling components with diisocyanate compounds and diazotization with a double diazonium salt to prepare three disazo disperse dyes. The synthesized dyes exhibited high molar extinction coefficients and slow dyeing rate on polyester fabrics.

Highly efficient and selective removal of anionic dyes from aqueous solutions using magneto-responsive Fe-aminoclay/Fe2O3/polyvinyl alcohol composite microgels

Eunsol Wi et al.

Summary: In this study, magneto-responsive Fe-AC/Fe2O3/PVA composite microgels were successfully prepared using a microfluidic approach. The microgels exhibited a remarkable adsorption capacity for anionic dyes due to their fast diffusion kinetics, porous structures, and numerous amino groups. The incorporation of Fe2O3 magnetic nanoparticles allowed for easy separation and reuse of the microgels. These results demonstrate that the magneto-responsive Fe-AC/Fe2O3/PVA hybrid microgels are effective and sustainable adsorbents for treating wastewater contaminated with anionic dyes.

Design and synthesis of diazirine-containing dyes for polypropylene fibre: A study on the effect of alkyl chain

Guangluo Guo et al.

Summary: This article presents a new class of hydrophobic reactive dyes that react with polypropylene fibers. The dyes were designed using diazirine moiety as a reactive group, azo structure as a chromophore, and an ester group as a linking bridge. The study demonstrates the positive effect of the alkyl chain in promoting color yield, while slightly reducing the fixation value. The dyed polypropylene fabrics showed excellent color fastness property due to the chemical bonding of the dye molecules to the fiber, making the dyeing technology promising for future industrial applications.

Distribution mechanism of disperse dyes with similar substituents in a waterless dyeing system based on molecular dynamic simulation

Hongjuan Zhang et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the impact of substituents on the coloration process in a waterless dyeing system through molecular dynamics simulations. The results reveal that introducing cyan and N-cyanoethyl groups can reduce the diffusion coefficient and solubility of disperse dyes, while increasing the interaction energy between dyes and fibers, thereby enhancing adsorption efficiency and dyeing uptake.

Biocatalytic Carbene Transfer Using Diazirines

Nicholas J. Porter et al.

Summary: This study developed a catalyst that uses diazirines as carbene precursors, providing a new strategy for selective carbene transfer. By engineering variants of ApePgb protoglobin, selective carbene transfer from diazirines can be achieved at room temperature. The structure of an ApePgb variant, determined by microcrystal electron diffraction, revealed how evolution has enhanced access to the heme active site for this new-to-nature catalysis.

Environment-Friendly High-Efficiency Continuous Pad Dyeing of Non-Shrinkable Wool Fabric by the Silicon Fixation Method without Auxiliary Chemicals

Yuni Luo et al.

Summary: A new continuous pad dyeing method using decamethylcyclopentasiloxane (D5) as the fixation medium was developed, achieving a remarkable fixation rate of up to 99% without auxiliary chemicals on non-shrinkable wool fabric. The D5-fixation process exhibited better dye penetrability and higher color-fastness, color strength, and area shrink compared to conventional dyed samples. Furthermore, D5 had no influence on the surface structure, micro-structures, and color properties of wool fabrics, and the wool fabrics showed good color properties with reused D5. This new method has the potential to promote the development of a sustainable continuous pad dyeing technology with reduced consumption and wastewater.
