AIEE active stilbene based fluorescent sensor with red-shifted emission for vapor phase detection of nitrobenzene and moisture sensing

Sanwa Rafique et al.

Summary: A novel stilbene-based sensor with enhanced red-shifted fluorescence emission was synthesized for sensitive and selective detection of nitrobenzene. The fluorescence intensity of the sensor was quenched upon interaction with nitrobenzene, which was attributed to the combined effect of the smaller size of nitrobenzene and photo-induced electron transfer process. This study provides a new approach for the detection of nitrobenzene in solution and vapor phase using an active bathochromic shifted fluorescent sensor with AIEE property.

Synthesis and photophysical properties of 2-aryl-5-carbonyl indolizines

Camila R. S. Bertallo et al.

Summary: In this study, 20 novel fluorescent 5-carbonylated 2-arylindolizines derivatives were synthesized through the reaction between organolithium intermediates with different electrophiles. The photophysical properties, including electronic absorption spectra, fluorescence emission, quantum yield, and Stokes shift, were evaluated to investigate the effects of substituents. The results showed variations in absorbance peaks, fluorescence emission, decay times, quantum yield values, and Stokes shifts, with DFT calculations also performed for further analysis.

Color-Tunable Indolizine-Based Fluorophores and Fluorescent pH Sensor

Taegwan Kim et al.

Summary: A new fluorescent indolizine-based scaffold was developed with N,N-dimethylamino group acting as an electron donor and various electron-withdrawing groups introduced to induce a red shift in emission wavelength. This design allowed for the development of new fluorescent pH sensors with potential applications in fluorescence bioimaging and sensors.

Synthesis of Tunable Fluorescent Imidazole-Fused Heterocycle Dimers

Qiang Zheng et al.

Summary: A short and concise one-pot synthesis of imidazo-fused heterocycle dimers with tunable fluorescent properties has been developed using glyoxal dimethyl acetal in the Groebke-Blackburn-Bienayme (GBB) three-component reaction. This innovative method produced a new series of fluorescence-tunable imidazo-fused heterocycle dimers with a broad substrate scope and good yields. Luminescence studies showed that these GBB-dimers possess color-tunable properties, with emission colors changing successively from blue to green and yellow through easy substituent control.

A turn-on fluorescent probe based on indolizine for the detection of sulfite

Renle Cui et al.

Summary: In this study, a new fluorescent probe CRL-1 based on indolizines was developed for the detection of sulfite. The probe showed a short response time, excellent selectivity, and strong fluorescence emission at 458 nm. Cell imaging experiments suggested that the probe can be useful in biological systems.

Recent trends in molecular aggregates: An exploration of biomedicine

Jeongyun Heo et al.

Summary: Molecular aggregates have great potential for biomedical applications. The aggregates of conventional fluorophores can change their photophysical properties, while drug molecules' aggregates are considered detrimental to drug discovery. Nano-sized supramolecular aggregates are widely used in biomedical imaging and therapy due to their optimal properties.

Indolizines and Their Hetero/Benzo Derivatives in Reactions of [8+2] Cycloaddition

Eugene V. Babaev et al.

Summary: This review focuses on the peculiarities of [8+2] cycloaddition of acetylenes to indolizines, particularly those with leaving groups at positions 3 and 5. It also discusses the cycloaddition to aza- and benzo derivatives, as well as 1,10-cyclizations and processes leading to cyclazines where indolizines are intermediates. Mechanistic features (adducts and cycloadducts) and theoretical aspects (one- or two-steps mechanism) are reviewed.

Robust and Efficient Implicit Solvation Model for Fast Semiempirical Methods

Sebastian Ehlert et al.

Summary: A robust and efficient method is proposed to implicitly account for solvation effects in modern semiempirical quantum mechanics and force fields. The method based on the analytical linearized Poisson-Boltzmann (ALPB) model shows good performance over a broad range of systems and applications, with high accuracy in hydration free energy calculation.

Metal-Free Catalyzed Synthesis of Fluorescent Indolizine Derivatives

Yu-Chang Yuan et al.

Summary: A mild and efficient method for the synthesis of indolizines using acid as a catalyst in a two-component reaction was developed. The reaction efficiently forms a new ring in one-step, yielding products in a range of 8-95% under metal-free conditions. Substituted indolizine derivatives were synthesized, with compound 3a yielding the best results at 95% and 82% under general and microwave irradiation conditions, respectively. Spectral analysis confirmed the structures of the synthesized compounds, with compound 3m further characterized by single crystal X-ray analysis. UV-vis absorption and fluorescence properties were correlated with substituent groups on the indolizine rings.

A tetrazine-fused aggregation induced emission luminogen for bioorthogonal fluorogenic bioprobe

Sang-Kee Choi et al.

Summary: This study introduces tetrazine-modified aggregation-induced emission luminogens for bioorthogonal fluorogenic imaging, demonstrating successful development of three different colorful fluorogenic tetrazine-fluorophores with unique fluorescent properties. Tetrazine modification induces fluorescence quenching and a synergistic effect between intramolecular charge transfer and tetrazine-mediated non-radiative decay was revealed through aggregate formation study and computational calculations. Additionally, the simple conjugation between triphenylphosphonium and tetrazine-fluorophore enabled the development of fluorogenic probes for spatiotemporally controlled bioorthogonal bioimaging of mitochondria in live cells without the need for washing the labels.

Recent advances in the synthesis of indolizine and its derivatives by radical cyclization/cross-coupling

Jieru Hui et al.

Summary: This review systematically examines the current and latest synthetic strategies using radical species or radical intermediates for synthesizing indolizines and their derivatives. The review is classified into two parts based on the type of building blocks used for indolizine ring construction and the type of radical trigger for indolizine derivative construction. We anticipate that this review will provide a deep understanding of this topic and help researchers develop novel approaches for the synthesis of indolizine and its derivatives.
