Synthesis and Characterization of the Diastereomers of HHC and H4CBD

Arianna Collins et al.

Summary: The characterization of compounds, particularly new and rare cannabinoids, is essential in the growing field of cannabinoid chemistry. Hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) and Hexahydrocannabidiol (H4CBD), which are hydrogenated analogues of THC and CBD respectively, have gained attention and popularity in the cannabis industry. Various analytical techniques such as NMR, HPLC, and GC-MS were used to elucidate and characterize the diastereomers of HHC and H4CBD, providing valuable information about their structures.

Hexahydrocannabinol on the Light Cannabis Market: The Latest New Entry

Sara Casati et al.

Summary: In this study, the presence of (9R)-HHC and (9S)-HHC is reported in two commercialized hemp derived products for the first time. A gas chromatography mass spectrometry method was developed and validated for the identification and quantification of HHCs in hemp-derived resin. Despite the limited research on the activity and safety of HHCs, they are still emerging in the light-cannabis market, possibly due to lack of clear regulations. Therefore, a comprehensive analysis of hemp-derived products is necessary to ensure their safety.
