Overlapping infection of Nocardia farcinica and Aspergillus fumigatus in a child with X-linked chronic granulomatous disease: a case report

Summary: This case report describes the identification of overlapping infection of Nocardia farcinica and Aspergillus fumigatus in a Chinese child with X-linked chronic granulomatous disease (X-CGD) using metagenomic next-generation sequencing. Metagenomic next-generation sequencing is recommended as an important approach for microbial identification when traditional detection methods are unable to diagnose infectious pathogens. Patients with X-CGD have a poor prognosis, and early diagnosis and intervention may reduce mortality.

Epidemiology and Antimicrobial Resistance Profiles of the Nocardia Species in China, 2009 to 2021

Summary: This study investigated the species distribution and antimicrobial susceptibility profiles of Nocardia strains in China. The strains were mainly collected from the lower respiratory tract and skin tissues, and showed susceptibility to linezolid, amikacin, and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. Different Nocardia species exhibited varying resistance profiles to other antibiotics.
