Production of some benzylisoquinoline alkaloids in Papaver armeniacum L. hairy root cultures elicited with salicylic acid and methyl jasmonate

Meisam Sharifzadeh Naeini et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that treatment with different concentrations of MJ and SA significantly affected the production of morphinan alkaloids in Papaver armeniacum hairy roots, increasing the contents of thebaine, codeine, and morphine; the effects of MJ and SA may be achieved through the regulation of related gene expression with different mechanisms; the induction effects of different concentrations of MJ and SA on benzylisoquinoline alkaloids showed level-dependence.
