Hierarchical Assembly of Coordination Macromolecules with Atypical Geometries: Gd44Co28 Crown and Gd95Co60 Cage

Ming-Hao Du et al.

Summary: The discovered giant clusters are highly symmetric due to the spontaneous assembly of one or two basic units. In this study, Gd44Co28 crown and Gd95Co60 cage were reported, which have atypical geometry compared to clusters directly assembled by regular units. These clusters not only increase the size of Ln-Co clusters, but also exhibit enhanced magnetic entropy change at ultra-low temperatures. This work provides an effective way to fabricate cluster compounds with giant size and geometry complexity simultaneously.

Co3Gd4 Cage as Magnetic Refrigerant and Co3Dy3 Cage Showing Slow Relaxation of Magnetisation

Javeed Ahmad Sheikh et al.

Summary: Two structurally dissimilar 3d-4f cages were isolated under similar reaction conditions, with Co3Gd4 exhibiting a significant magnetocaloric effect and Co3Dy3 showing single molecule magnet behavior. The incorporation of a μ3-carbonate anion seems to be the main factor for the structural diversity between the two complexes.

{ScnGdn} Heterometallic Rings: Tunable Ring Topology for Spin-Wave Excitations

Hao-Lan Zhang et al.

Summary: This study presents a method for spin wave excitation using heterometallic rings and predicts spin wave excitations at different temperatures. The study finds that antiferromagnetic exchange, dipole-dipole interaction, and ring topology play important roles in spin wave excitations at low temperatures.

Suppression of zero-field quantum tunneling of magnetization by a fluorido bridge for a very hard 3d-4f single-molecule magnet

Bo-Kai Ling et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the importance of creating a large ground magnetic moment for suppressing the zero-field quantum tunneling of magnetization in single-molecule magnets (SMMs). By using bridging fluoride to create ferromagnetic couplings among the lanthanide ions, the molecule in this study possesses a large ground magnetic moment and exhibits a very hard magnetic hysteresis loop.

Reversible tuning of luminescence and magnetism in a structurally flexible erbium-anilato MOF

Summary: In this study, two different 3D neutral polymorphic frameworks were successfully synthesized by combining 3,6-N-ditriazolyl-2,5-dihydroxy-1,4-benzoquinone with NIR-emitting Er-III ions. These materials exhibit NIR emission properties and field-induced slow relaxation of the magnetization. Among them, 1a is a flexible MOF that undergoes a reversible structural phase transition under mild conditions.

Spectroscopic Analysis of Vibronic Relaxation Pathways in Molecular Spin Qubit [Ho(W5O18)2]9-: Sparse Spectra Are Key

Avery L. Blockmon et al.

Summary: Vibrations play a crucial role in the magnetic relaxation processes of molecular spin qubits, and direct experimental determination of vibronic coupling is essential for understanding and controlling the spin dynamics of these nano-objects. This study measures the magneto-infrared properties of the molecular spin qubit system Na-9[Ho(W5O18)(2)]·35H2O, providing insights into the vibronic decoherence pathways in the system.
