Overexpression of the homeobox-leucine zipper protein ATHB-6 improves the drought tolerance of maize (Zea mays L.)

Peng Jiao et al.

Summary: The introduction of the ATHB-6 gene was found to improve drought tolerance in maize by promoting root growth and activities of ROS-scavenging enzymes, activating the expression of critical genes in the ROS signals and ABA-dependent pathways under drought tolerance.

Distinct metabolic profiling is correlated with bisexual flowers formation resulting from exogenous ethephon induction in melon (Cucumis melo L.)

Siyu Fang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the regulatory mechanism of inducing bisexual flowers in melon and finds that ethylene treatment can induce the occurrence of bisexual flowers in the main stem of melon and regulate the expression of certain metabolites. This provides an important theoretical foundation for inducing bisexual flowers in the main stem and breeding new varieties of melon in the future.

Ectopic expression of VvFUS3, B3-domain transcription factor, in tomato influences seed development via affecting endoreduplication and hormones

Bilal Ahmad et al.

Summary: FUSCA3, a member of the B3-domain transcription factor family, plays a crucial role in plant development, particularly in seed and fruit development. Overexpression of VvFUS3 in tomato led to a reduction in seed number and weight, affecting cell expansion and division in both seeds and fruit pericarp.

Ectopic Expression of VvSUC27 Induces Stenospermocarpy and Sugar Accumulation in Tomato Fruits

Yumeng Cai et al.

Summary: This study characterized three sucrose transporters from grape species, VvSUC11, VvSUC12, and VvSUC27, and found that overexpression of VvSUC27 can induce seedless fruit development with higher quality and sugar content. The overexpression of VvSUC27 also led to changes in flower morphology and gene expression related to carbohydrate metabolism and hormone signaling pathways.
