Early corrosion of Ni-Cr-Mo-V high strength steel under hydrostatic pressure and tensile stress was investigated. The results show that plastic deformation has a double effect: increasing anodic current and damaging the corrosion film. This synergism between plastic deformation and hydrostatic pressure further promotes the corrosion of Ni-Cr-Mo-V alloy.
Early corrosion of Ni-Cr-Mo-V high strength steel under hydrostatic pressure and tensile stress was investigated by microstructure characterization and electrochemical measurements. The main results show that plastic deformation has a double effect: -similar to the effect of hydrostatic pressure, the anodic current increases due to changes of the electrical double layer. This increase in current can be calculated by Gutman's theory; -the other effect is to damage the corrosion film coherent with the steel matrix. This synergism between plastic deformation and hydrostatic pressure further promotes the corrosion of Ni-CrMo-V alloy.
