Catalyst Performance of the Calcined Products of CoAl Layered Double Hydroxide in the Aerobic Oxidation of Ethylbenzene

Lizhen Qin et al.

Summary: A series of Co-containing catalysts were obtained by calcining Co2Al layered double hydroxide (Co2Al-LDH) at different temperatures. The study showed that calcination temperature significantly affected the catalyst's structure, physic-chemical properties, and catalytic performance. The sample treated at 250 degrees Celsius exhibited the highest catalytic activity and selectivity.

Sayuri Okunaka et al.

Summary: Selective organic conversion using semiconductor photocatalysts has attracted attention for sustainable synthesis processes. In this study, a novel strategy using a redox mediator and Pd/BiVO4 photocatalyst was introduced for the oxidation of toluene. The addition of N-hydroxyphthalimide (NHPI) significantly increased the activity of benzaldehyde production under blue-to-green light irradiation, achieving high efficiency and excellent selectivity.

Selective Aerobic Oxidation of P-Methoxytoluene by Co(II)-Promoted NHPI Incorporated into Cross-Linked Copolymer Structure

Tomasz Berniak et al.

Summary: A series of copolymer catalysts with immobilized NHPI groups were synthesized via radical copolymerization, exhibiting high catalytic performance in the oxidation reaction. The conversion of the aromatic substrate was significantly influenced by the NHPI content and cross-linking degree, with too high concentrations potentially leading to the inactivation of NHPI groups. The mechanism involving NHPI centers forming PINO radicals and Co(II) cations was discussed, and the stability of the catalysts was tested.
