Moreover, it exhibited strong absorption bands in the NIR range and high photothermal conversion efficiency, making it suitable for tumor-targeted photothermal therapy.

Probing the viscosity changes of acute kidney injury by fluorescence imaging

Summary: A near-infrared fluorescent probe MI-F was developed to visualize the viscosity level of acute kidney injury (AKI) and evaluate the intervention ability of reduced glutathione on AKI. The study revealed an increase in viscosity under the pathology of AKI and demonstrated the inhibitory and preventive effect of early intake of reduced glutathione on kidney organ damage during AKI process. The research also indicated minimal impact of the early stage of AKI on other organs.

Near-infrared chemiluminescence imaging of superoxide anion production in kidneys with iron3+-nitrilotriacetate-induced acute renal oxidative stress in rats

Summary: This study developed a near-infrared chemiluminescent probe (MCLA-800) that can visualize the production of reactive oxygen species in real time in living rat kidneys. The results showed that iron-catalyzed oxidative stress in the kidneys generated superoxide anions, with the production correlated to the dose of Iron(3+)-nitrilotriacetate. The peak production occurred at 24 hours and then decreased gradually.
