Summary: The production of CPB has significant environmental impacts, and using eco-friendly materials, such as GGBS, as a replacement for cement can reduce these impacts. The study found that replacing 5-10% of cement with GGBS can achieve the best mechanical performance and minimal environmental impact. Additionally, using 25% GGBS as a replacement for cement can meet the minimum strength requirement with a 17% lower environmental impact than traditional CPB manufacturing.

Spatial effects of climate warming on the health risks due to urban heat exposure: a case study of China

Huanchun Huang et al.

Summary: The effects of global urbanization and climate warming on public health, particularly the health risks caused by urban heat environments, have been widely studied. This research focuses on assessing the spatial and temporal response mechanism of climate warming and the high temperature exposure dose (HTED) of urban residents in order to achieve sustainable cities. By using an environmental health risk appraisal model and studying the six ring roads in Beijing, this study simulated the future spatial distribution of high temperatures under three different socioeconomic pathways (SSPs). The study also assessed the HTED for commuting on foot or by bicycle. The results provide insights into the areas with high temperature exposure risks and serve as a reference for planning resilient and sustainable cities.
