Summary: This study highlights the formation of calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H) seeds during hydration in the presence of silica nanoparticles (SNPs), and the impact of these seeds on the hydration kinetics of tricalcium silicate (C3S). It was found that the presence of SNPs accelerated the early hydration rate of C3S, delayed the formation of crystalline calcium hydroxide nuclei, and shortened the induction period. The results indicate a significant acceleration in C3S hydration after the formation of C-S-H seeds.
