A new deep convolutional neural network incorporating attentional mechanisms for ECG emotion recognition

Tianqi Fan et al.

Summary: Using wearable devices to capture ECG signals for emotion recognition is a viable solution. We propose a deep convolutional neural network with attentional mechanisms for ECG emotion recognition. By incorporating an improved Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM), we address the issue of individual differences in emotion recognition tasks.

Effectiveness of single-lead ECG devices for detecting atrial fibrillation: An overview of systematic reviews

Hai Yue Gu et al.

Summary: This study aimed to synthesize the evidence on the effectiveness of single-lead ECG devices in detecting atrial fibrillation (AF). Eight systematic reviews were included in the analysis, which showed that single-lead ECG-based devices had good sensitivity and specificity (both ≥90%) in detecting AF. However, significant variations in diagnostic performance were observed among handheld and thoracic placed single-lead ECG devices.

Evolution of single-lead ECG for STEMI detection using a deep learning approach

C. Michael Gibson et al.

Summary: This study developed and validated a machine learning-guided algorithm for STEMI detection using single-lead ECG data from Latin American patients. The algorithm showed promising results in accurately detecting STEMI and localizing anterior and inferior wall STEMIs, although there is room for improvement in detecting lateral wall STEMIs. This AI-enhanced single-lead ECG technology offers a promising screening tool for early STEMI diagnosis and has the potential to improve patient outcomes in the long run.

Study of the Few-Shot Learning for ECG Classification Based on the PTB-XL Dataset

Krzysztof Palczynski et al.

Summary: The electrocardiogram (ECG) is a fundamental tool in cardiology for diagnosing various heart diseases. This study focuses on applying Few-Shot Learning (FSL) to classify ECG signals and compares its performance with softmax-based classification. The results show that the FSL network achieved higher accuracy in classifying healthy/sick patients and different disease classes compared to the softmax-based network.

SLC-GAN: An automated myocardial infarction detection model based on generative adversarial networks and convolutional neural networks with single-lead electrocardiogram synthesis

Wenqiang Li et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an automated myocardial infarction detection model - SLC-GAN - that synthesizes single-lead ECG data with high morphological similarity through generative adversarial networks (GANs). It automatically detects MI using convolutional neural networks (CNNs) with real ECG data and synthetic ECGs from the GAN. The empirical results indicate that our new SLC-GAN method performs impressively compared with other MI classification methodologies on single-lead ECG from the PTB Diagnostic ECG Database.

A novel method for reducing arrhythmia classification from 12-lead ECG signals to single-lead ECG with minimal loss of accuracy through teacher-student knowledge distillation

Majid Sepahvand et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a method to bridge the gap between arrhythmia classification models using multi-lead ECG signals and those using single-lead ECG signals through knowledge distillation. The results show that the method successfully compresses the model size while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Smartphone-based screening for atrial fibrillation: a pragmatic randomized clinical trial

Konstantinos D. Rizas et al.

Summary: The study compared the efficacy of digital smart devices in detecting atrial fibrillation (AF) and found that digital screening technology more than doubled the detection rate of treatment-relevant AF compared to usual care. This technology has the potential for broad applicability and further studies are needed to assess if digital screening for AF leads to better treatment outcomes.
