Techno-economic analysis of the impact of dynamic electricity prices on solar penetration in a smart grid environment with distributed energy storage

Moataz Sheha et al.

Summary: This study examines the technical and economic feasibility of incorporating high levels of solar energy penetration into a smart grid system of 60,000 smart houses. A novel non-cooperative Stackelberg game is introduced to optimize dynamic prices for grid stability, with a focus on profitabilty and distributed storage. The study evaluates ten cases with various photovoltaic plant sizes and battery designs, using metrics such as the levelized cost of energy and payback period to identify the most promising scenarios.

Renewable-integrated flexible carbon capture: a synergistic path forward to clean energy future

Manali S. Zantye et al.

Summary: The study examines the synergistic integration of renewables and flexible carbon capture with individual fossil power plants to address the intermittency of renewable energy sources and high energy requirement of carbon capture. The integrated system can reduce carbon capture costs, decrease emissions, and improve the competitiveness of electricity costs, offering a cost-effective and sustainable measure to accelerate the clean energy transition in the global energy sector.
