Experimental investigation on flexural and ductile behaviors of rebar-reinforced ultra-high-performance concrete beams

Minghong Qiu et al.

Summary: This paper experimentally investigates the flexural and ductile behaviors of ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) beams. The effects of reinforcement ratio, reinforcement diameter, and UHPC cover thickness on the behavior of the beams are studied. Increasing the reinforcement ratio significantly enhances stiffness, flexural capacity, and ductility, while the other two parameters have little influence. Analytical models are established to predict the behavior of the beams, and the predictions match well with the experimental results. The results of this study contribute to the understanding of the performance of UHPC beams and provide guidance for their design.

Experimental and numerical study of flexural properties in UHPFRC beams with and without an initial notch

Hamed Sadaghian et al.

Summary: This study investigated the flexural behavior of ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete beams with and without initial notches both experimentally and numerically. Results showed that the presence of notches reduced the peak load, while an increase in the N/D ratio led to an increase in peak load. The size of the cross-section also had an impact on the peak load.

Effect of curing age on pullout behavior of aligned and inclined steel fibers embedded in UHPFRC

Pablo Augusto Krahl et al.

Summary: In UHPFRC, the bond strength of fibers with different inclinations increases with time, with a smaller growth for 45 degrees and a larger growth for 30 degrees. The significant increase for fibers inclined at 30 degrees is mainly attributed to the increased friction at the interface due to the snubbing effect.

Behavior and punching capacity of flat slabs with the rational use of UHPFRC: NLFEA and analytical predictions

Alex M. D. de Sousa et al.

Summary: Combining normal strength concrete with ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete can significantly enhance the punching capacity and deformation capacity of slab-column connections. Placing a UHPFRC layer near the column in the slab compression zone was found to significantly increase the punching capacity, with the reinforcement ratio and configuration playing a significant role in capacity enhancements.

Flexural and cracking behaviors of reinforced UHPC beams with various reinforcement ratios and fiber contents

Zheng Feng et al.

Summary: The study found that the reinforcement and steel fibers in UHPC beams can effectively limit crack development, with the contribution of steel fibers decreasing as the reinforcement ratio increases. The interface between the reinforced UHPC beams and the steel reinforcement is weaker in beams with a high reinforcement ratio, with the initial stiffness being greater than that of beams with a low reinforcement ratio. The flexural capacity of UHPC beams increases linearly with the reinforcement ratio.
