The mechanical behavior and failure mechanisms of 2D C/SiC screwed/bonded hybrid joints were investigated. Tensile experiments and analysis techniques were used to clarify the mechanical characteristics and monitor the failure process. The results showed the influence of SiC distribution on the response fluctuation and the variations in failure mode and strength of the hybrid joints with assembly angle.
The mechanical behavior and failure mechanisms of 2D C/SiC screwed/bonded hybrid joints have an essential impact on the safe service of vehicles. Tensile experiments for screwed/bonded hybrid joints were carried out to clarify the mechanical characteristics. And the acoustic emission signal acquisition system combined with the digital image correlation techniques was used to monitor the failure process. K-means cluster analysis method was adopted to determine the damage modes and the corresponding frequency ranges. Combining the results of Micro-CT and failure morphologies, a refine modeling method describing the SiC distribution is proposed. A progressive damage model coupled with the cohesive theory is employed to simulate different mechanical re-sponses and failure modes. It is demonstrated that the response fluctuation is mainly affected by the SiC dis-tribution, and the failure mode and strength of the hybrid joints vary with the assembly angle.
