Rotational symmetry of ancient solutions to the Ricci flow in higher dimensions

Simon Brendle et al.

Summary: We extend the work of the first author on the uniqueness of ancient kappa-solutions to higher dimensions. In dimensions n > 4, an ancient kappa-solution is a nonflat, complete, ancient solution of the Ricci flow that is uniformly PIC and weakly PIC2, has bounded curvature, and is kappa-noncollapsed. We show that the only noncompact ancient kappa-solutions up to isometry are a family of shrinking cylinders, a quotient thereof, or the Bryant soliton.

Ancient asymptotically cylindrical flows and applications

Kyeongsu Choi et al.

Summary: In this paper, the mean-convex neighborhood conjecture for neck singularities of the mean curvature flow in R-n(+1) for all n >= 3 is proven. The existence of a mean-convex neighborhood is obtained by classifying certain ancient Brakke flows near a neck singularity. A novel variant of the moving plane method is introduced to address the difficulty in the higher dimensional case.

On the dynamics of formation of generic singularities of mean curvature flow

Zhou Gang

Summary: In this study, we examine the formation of generic singularities under mean curvature flow by combining different approaches and results. We obtained detailed information when the initial hypersurfaces are close to cylinders and also included all the generic blowups from the results by Colding and Minicozzi. We focused on the cases where the rescaled flow converges to the cylinder S-1 x R-3 and extended the region controlled by Colding and Minicozzi to provide a finer description of the singularity's neighborhood.
