A linearized decoupled Crank-Nicolson FEM for Keller-Segel chemotactic model with nonlinear secretion

Dongyang Shi et al.

Summary: A linearized decoupled Crank-Nicolson fully discrete scheme is developed using Galerkin FEM for a class of chemotactic models with nonlinear secretion. The scheme reduces the dimension of the coefficient matrix significantly compared to implicit schemes. The existence and uniqueness of numerical solutions are proven, and unconditional superclose results in H1-norm are derived through rigorous theoretical analysis. The scheme allows for large time step calculations, making it advantageous for long time simulation of the model. Additionally, superconvergence results are obtained using interpolation post-processing technology, and other popular finite element methods for solving the model are discussed. Numerical results are provided to validate the theoretical analysis.

Analytical Solutions to the Chavy-Waddy-Kolokolnikov Model of Bacterial Aggregates in Phototaxis by Three Integration Schemes

Alejandro Leon-Ramirez et al.

Summary: In this work, analytical solutions to the Chavy-Waddy-Kolokolnikov equation were obtained using three methods. The equation is used for modeling aggregate formation in bacteria moving toward the light, known as phototaxis. The findings include cases where the nonlinear term is a small perturbation of the linear case, instability and pattern formation regime, standing waves, traveling fronts, and stationary spike-like solutions.

Painleve Test, Phase Plane Analysis and Analytical Solutions of the Chavy-Waddy-Kolokolnikov Model for the Description of Bacterial Colonies

Nikolay A. Kudryashov et al.

Summary: The Chavy-Waddy-Kolokolnikov model for bacterial colonies is studied. The Painleve test is used to determine if the mathematical model is integrable, providing restrictions on the parameters. The inverse scattering transform method is found ineffective for solving the Cauchy problem due to the requirement of stationary solutions. The stability of stationary points and construction of periodic and solitary solutions are also explored.

Finite element approximation of a Keller-Segel model with additional self- and cross-diffusion terms and a logistic source

Sattar M. Hassan et al.

Summary: This study investigated a fully finite element approximation of the Keller-Segel model, demonstrating the existence of solutions, stability bounds, and convergence of the approximated solutions. An iterative approach for solving the nonlinear discrete system was introduced, and numerical results were presented.
