Reaction kinetics for high pressure hydrogen oxy-combustion in the presence of high levels of H2O and CO2

Ashkan Beigzadeh et al.

Summary: This study provides novel shock tube experimental data to investigate the influence of high concentrations of H2O and CO2 on the ignition delay time (IDT) of stoichiometric 4% H2. A minimally-tuned H2/CO reaction mechanism, CanMECH 1.0, is presented for studying high-pressure combustion in the presence of large concentrations of H2O and CO2. The validity of CanMECH 1.0 is confirmed by comparing it with experimental data and other models.

Ignition delay times of n-butane and i-butane under O2/CO2 atmospheres: Shock tube experiments and kinetic model

Chao Peng et al.

Summary: Pressurized oxy-fuel combustion is considered an advanced technique with lower cost and little decrease in efficiency compared to conventional PC systems without CO2 capture. Experimental and modeling work on n-butane ignition delay times under different conditions validates the updated chemical kinetic model Oxymech2.0 Plus, which shows improved prediction accuracy for butane combustion in O2 / CO2 atmospheres. The effects of equivalence ratios and CO2 concentrations on the ignition delay times of n-butane were analyzed.

Understanding the antagonistic effect of methanol as a component in surrogate fuel models: A case study of methanol/n-heptane mixtures

Yingtao Wu et al.

Summary: The study found that increasing methanol in a blend can promote or inhibit reactivity of the mixture at different temperatures, and at low temperatures, the competition between methanol and n-heptane plays a significant role in autoignition. Additionally, at high temperatures, methanol produces higher concentrations of H(O)2 radicals, promoting the reactivity of methanol/n-heptane mixtures for ignition delay times and laminar flame speeds.

Direct-fired oxy-combustion supercritical-CO2 power cycle with novel preheating configurations -thermodynamic and exergoeconomic analyses

Ahmad K. Sleiti et al.

Summary: The study introduces a novel direct-fired oxy-fuel combustion supercritical CO2 cycle with preheating and dry-cooling, showing that the installation of a preheater can improve cycle efficiency and reduce losses in the recuperator, leading to increased overall exergy efficiency and reduced production costs.

A comprehensive kinetic modeling study of ethylene combustion with data uncertainty analysis

Hongxin Wang et al.

Summary: The revision and upgrade of the ethylene oxidation kinetic sub-mechanism focused on evaluating uncertainties in thermo-kinetical and experimental data, and optimizing reaction model uncertainty. By assessing uncertainty bounds of key reaction rate coefficients and optimizing rate parameters for 57 reactions of C2H4, the revised mechanism showed good agreement with existing experimental data. Sensitivity and rate of production analyses highlighted the importance of reaction paths and uncertainty problems in mechanism optimization and integration.
