Biofunctionalized carbonaceous nanoflakes based efficient electrochemical biosensor for SAA biomarker detection

Vishakha Nirbhaya et al.

Summary: Swine flu is a major cause of death globally, and Serum Amyloid A (SAA) is a promising biomarker for detecting swine flu in patients. In this study, an immunosensing platform was fabricated using ultrathin carbonaceous nanoflakes (g-C3N4NFs) as the transducer material. The platform was capable of detecting SAA protein with a linear detection range of 10-100 ILg mL-1, a limit of detection of 6.17 ILg mL-1, and a sensitivity of 2.42 ILA mL ILg-1cm-2. Various characterization techniques were employed to analyze the structure, morphology, and chemical properties of the fabricated nanomaterials and electrodes.

Phosphorus-doped graphitic carbon nitride: A metal-free electrocatalyst for quercetin sensing in fruit samples

Ganesh Kesavan et al.

Summary: This report presents the preparation of phosphorus-doped graphitic carbon nitride (PgCN), a metal-free catalyst, using a one-step thermal polymerization technique. Different weight ratios of phosphorus doping were successfully synthesized and evaluated. The developed modified electrodes showed improved catalytic activity for quercetin (QCN) determination. A comprehensive detection of QCN in a concentration range from 0.025 to 212.2 μM with a low detection limit of 1 nM was achieved under optimized conditions. Impedance spectroscopy results provided additional information for P-doping. The developed electrochemical method was successfully applied to determine QCN in commercially available fruit juice samples with a recovery rate of approximately 95%.

On P-doping of graphitic carbon nitride with hexachlorotriphosphazene as a source of phosphorus

Radim Skuta et al.

Summary: The synthesis of P-doped graphitic carbon nitride (PCN) by in situ doping via co-pyrolysis of melamine and hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene (HCCP) is being investigated. The results show continuous enrichment of graphitic carbon nitride (CN) by phosphorus, which is believed to predominantly substitute carbon in the structure. PCN with 2.44 wt% of phosphorus shows the highest photodegradation activity under VIS irradiation, indicating the potential of P-doped PCN in photocatalytic applications.
