SBTAnalyzer: A data processing software package for single-bacterium tracking microscopy at material surfaces

Xianan Qin et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a powerful microscopy method for quantitatively studying bacterial motility, called single-bacterium tracking. The method requires analysis tools for microscopy video processing and trajectory extraction. The authors report a software that can handle these requirements and have applied it to track Escherichia coli near glass surfaces. Their proposed approach, with automated and convenient video processing and trajectory extraction, can greatly aid single-bacterium tracking studies and be considered a useful tool for related quantitative investigations.

Solar-driven on-site H2O2 generation and tandem photo-Fenton reaction on a triphase interface for rapid organic pollutant degradation

Yujun Ju et al.

Summary: The article introduces a new method of in-situ generation and activation of hydrogen peroxide at triphase interface for efficient degradation of organic pollutants. By using Z-type heterojunction catalyst, the separation efficiency of photo-induced electrons and holes is improved, further enhancing the reaction efficiency.

Self-assembly amino-quinone network coatings onto polyester fabric via single-sided spraying of natural polyphenols and polyethyleneimine for highly efficient moisture conducting and bacteriostatic properties

Wei Cheng et al.

Summary: In this study, a modified PET fabric with unidirectional water transport and bacteriostatic properties was prepared by spraying a coating of PEI and either DA or TA. The Janus A/Q-PET fabric showed excellent performance in terms of air permeability, coolness, and inhibiting bacterial invasion and growth, while maintaining its hydrophilicity even after repeated wash cycles. This highly efficient moisture conducting and bacteriostatic PET fabric has great potential for use in summer outdoor sports functional textiles.

In situ synthesis of silver nanoparticles on modified poly(ethylene terephthalate) fibers by grafting for obtaining versatile antimicrobial materials

Zehra Gun Gok et al.

Summary: In this study, PET-g-MAA fibers were obtained by grafting methacrylic acid (MAA) onto PET surface, followed by adsorption of silver ions and reduction to silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). The AgNPs-coated fibers exhibited antibacterial effects against both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. Additionally, the synthesized material showed no cytotoxic effects on fibroblast cells, indicating its potential for antimicrobial applications.

Dynamic flow and pollution of antimony from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) fibers in China

Jianwen Chu et al.

Summary: The study on the material flow of PET fibers in China reveals that the manufacturing stage is the main source of Sb release, improper disposal of waste fibers results in high Sb release, and there is a clear relationship between anthropogenic Sb and industrial intensity. Proper management of Sb in PET fibers is necessary to prevent widespread dispersion in the environment.
