Composites for Aqueous-Mediated Heterogeneously Catalyzed Degradation and Mineralization of Water Pollutants on TiO2-A Review

Madappa C. C. Maridevaru et al.

Summary: Wastewater contains organic toxins that are harmful to human health and the environment. Nanotechnology has provided an effective photodegradation strategy for industrial organic toxins and medical contaminants in wastewater. Advanced composites based on photocatalysts can remove contaminants without generating hazardous byproducts. This survey article summarizes the fundamentals of heterogeneous catalysis and explores the application of TiO2 as a catalyst for photocatalysis.

The antineoplastic drugs cyclophosphamide and cisplatin in the aquatic environment ? Review

Vanessa Queiros et al.

Summary: This review summarizes the presence of cyclophosphamide and cisplatin in the aquatic environment and their effects on freshwater and marine invertebrates. Studies have shown that these antineoplastic drugs can have adverse effects on aquatic invertebrate species, including changes in reproductive function and oxidative stress. Monitoring studies need to be increased to better understand the occurrence and impacts of these drugs in aquatic environments, with a particular focus on marine ecosystems.

Titania-triethanolamine-kaolinite nanocomposites as adsorbents and photocatalysts of herbicides

Ana Vera de Toledo Piza Figueiredo Ferreira et al.

Summary: Kaolinite-titania adsorbents/photocatalysts were prepared by functionalizing kaolinite with titanium(IV) triethanolaminate isopmpoxide using the sol-gel method. The materials showed good adsorption and photocatalytic performance in studies involving herbicides and heat treatment.

Effects of Calcination Temperature on the Phase Composition, Photocatalytic Degradation, and Virucidal Activities of TiO2 Nanoparticles

Min Gu Kim et al.

Summary: Researchers investigated the synthesis and performance of TiO2 nanoparticles, obtaining mixed brookite/rutile phase TiO2 nanoparticles by adjusting the calcination temperature. The TiO2 nanoparticles calcined at 700 degrees Celsius with mixed anatase/rutile phases showed the best photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue and exhibited excellent virus inactivation against various viruses, indicating their potential for environmental applications.
