Summary: Controlling the viscosity of aqueous surfactant solutions is crucial for practical applications, and polymer-surfactant interactions play a significant role in achieving this control. Recent developments have focused on creating systems with low concentration that are responsive to external parameters like temperature or pH, allowing for tailored rheological properties. This topic is highly relevant for practical formulations and has ongoing research activities. The choice of surfactant and polymer intricately determines the biocompatibility and general predictions for such systems are complex.

The effect of C12E6 nonionic surfactant on the solubilization of Eosin Y in unmodified- and hydrophobically modified poly(Acrylic acid) solutions

Adriana Baran et al.

Summary: The effect of hexaethylene glycol mono-dodecyl ether (C12E6) on the solubilization of Eosin Yellow in poly(acrylic acid) (PAA) solution was investigated. The results showed that hydrophobic modification promoted the formation of hydrophobic nano-domains in PAA, and the addition of C12E6 reduced the critical aggregation concentration of the polymer solution. It was also found that at higher concentrations of C12E6, the dye solubilized into micelles.

UV-VIS investigation of methyl red in presence of sodium dodecyl sulfate/methanol/ethanol/water system

Pawan Shah et al.

Summary: This paper reports a room temperature UV-VIS study on the interaction between methyl red dye and sodium dodecyl sulfate/methanol/ethanol/water systems. The results show that the interaction between methyl red dye and specific components in the solvent leads to changes in the spectrum peak values. The calculated binding constants and distribution constants indicate that this interaction is spontaneous.

Gemini surfactant behavior of conventional surfactant dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide with anionic azo dye Sunset Yellow in aqueous solutions

Erol Akpinar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the interaction between Sunset Yellow and dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTMABr) at different concentrations, revealing gemini surfactant behavior of DTMABr at high dye concentrations and J-aggregations of Sunset Yellow in water. Additionally, H-aggregates of Sunset Yellow were formed at low concentrations in the presence of DTMABr, while J-aggregations were observed at high concentrations.

Investigation the effect of sodium carboxymethylcellulose as polycounterion on cetirizine hydrochloride-sodium dodecyl sulphate mixed micelle

Mukul Kumar et al.

Summary: The study found that NaCMCu as a polycounterion can enhance the stability of CTZ + SDS mixed micelles, decrease the CMC of CTZ, and bind CTZ micelles through electrostatic interactions. However, an increase in NaCMCu was observed to result in an increase in the size of mixed micelles.
