Recent advances in room temperature phosphorescence materials: design strategies, internal mechanisms and intelligent optical applications

Summary: Room temperature phosphorescence (RTP) materials, including organic-inorganic hybrid, pure organic, and polymer RTP materials, have attracted much research attention due to their tunable molecular structures, long emission lifetimes, and extensive optical applications. Researchers have developed various design methods to enhance RTP performance, such as halogen bonding interactions, heavy atom effect, metal-organic frameworks, polymerization, host-guest doping, and H-aggregation. This review summarizes recent cases of organic-inorganic hybrid, pure organic, and polymer RTP materials with advanced design strategies, excellent RTP properties, and intelligent applications, and discusses the future challenges in improving RTP performance and exploring novel applications.

Unexpected Photocatalytic Degeneration of NAD+for Inducing Apoptosis of Hypoxia Cancer Cells

Summary: Developing customized chemical reactions to regulate biological processes is an advanced strategy for disease treatment. However, traditional chemical reactions become challenging in complex physiological environments. This study introduces an advanced photocatalytic reaction that triggers cell apoptosis by converting NAD+ to nicotinamide and ADP-ribose. Under white-light illumination, the reaction decreases NAD+ ratio in tumor cells, disrupts mitochondrial membrane potential, inhibits ATP synthesis, and effectively induces apoptosis.

Fluorescent assemblies: Synergistic of amphiphilic molecules and fluorescent elements

Summary: In recent years, fluorescent assemblies based on amphiphilic molecules have attracted attention due to their self-assembly capability and fluorescent properties. These assemblies have shown versatility and controllability in their structure, ranging from micelles, vesicles, and nano-assemblies to gels. Weak and noncovalent interactions play an important role in driving the assembly process. They can co-assemble with dye molecules, aggregation-induced emission (AIE) gens, and fluorescent nano-particles, and new amphiphilic molecules containing fluorescent groups can also be designed and prepared. Fluorescence performance, including intensity, quantum yield, stability, and controllability, can be improved during the assembly process. These promising fluorescent assemblies have the potential for various applications. This article aims to deepen our understanding of fluorescent assemblies and inspire future developments and applications of this emerging fluorescence soft material.

Summary: The hemocompatibility of novel biomaterials is crucial for their successful application in cardiovascular settings. Monolayers of certain biomolecules can enhance surface biocompatibility. By incorporating phospholipid, immunosuppressant, and antioxidant materials into biocoatings, researchers found that the properties of these films can be adjusted by changing the composition of the monolayer. Using Langmuir-Blodgett technique, they discovered that the presence of lauryl gallate in the three-component systems can improve surface biocompatible characteristics.

Zn2+-induced AIEE-Active Conjugated Oligomers for Highly Selective Recognition of Zn2+ with an Impressive Blue Shift

It exhibited aggregation induced emission enhancement (AIEE) with high selectivity upon the addition of Zn2+. The Zn2+-Co-imiPhenTPE complex showed a significant blue shift in the emission wavelength and the Co-imiPhenTPE transformed into spherical nanoparticles. This approach may provide insights for designing large blue-shifted fluorescent sensors.
