Identification of Alzheimer's Disease Progression Stages Using Topological Measures of Resting-State Functional Connectivity Networks: A Comparative Study

Zhanxiong Wu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the sensitivity and effectiveness of different computational methods in differentiating stages of Alzheimer's disease (AD) by comparing the topological properties of resting-state functional connectivity (FC) networks constructed with different methods. The results showed that the network built with group information guided independent component analysis (GIG-ICA) was more sensitive to AD progression than networks built with Pearson correlation (PC) and dynamic time warping (DTW). The findings also revealed that AD-linked FC alterations mostly appeared in temporal, cingulate, and angular areas, which may contribute to the clinical diagnosis of AD.

Systematic Review of Different Neuroimaging Correlates in Mild Cognitive Impairment and Alzheimer's Disease

Summary: A comprehensive examination of neural correlates of cognitive dysfunction in Alzheimer's disease using various neuroimaging modalities revealed early anatomical changes, functional disruptions, and metabolic alterations associated with AD. The combination of different imaging techniques may lead to the identification of early diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers for AD.
